This is a handheld percussion Instrument made out of wood with metal beads wrapped around the base of the instrument. It is an easy instrument even for beginners to play, as all you need to do is hold it with your dominant hand and then gently shake it into your other hand in a rhythmic pattern. The Cabasa historically has been seen used in Hispanic Cultures as well as North African cultures. Being a type of percussion and shaker instrument, it is a great filler instrument as it produces a pleasing rhythm ideal for background noise during a performance, song, or drum circle.
